Water Balance

Balanced Water may be defined as "water that is neither corrosive nor scaling." Since water needs a certain amount of minerals to be balanced, those minerals might be regarded as its food. When it has less than required, it is hungry or corrosive. When it has too much, it is overfed or scaling.

Corrosive Water seeks to satisfy its hunger by dissolving virtually everything it contacts. It attacks metals like iron and copper, and especially plaster surfaces.

Scaling Water has too many ingredients in its water either by nature or by human mismanagement. Scaling water seeks to relieve its overfed condition by releasing precipitates either as scale, cloudiness or residue.

Properly balanced water creates an environment that optimizes the disinfection process, protects the pool/spa components, and provides a more enjoyable experience for the users.
